Our dear friend Gail landed at Charles de Gaule Aeroport at 7:24 this morning. She was pooped and when she arrived at her lovely Hotel Montalambert where she stayed last year, her room was of course not ready that early. While she was waiting for her room and enjoying a bite, we took advantage to have a leisurely morning, doing our Blog, and finishing up some left over pâté and fromage from yesterday's market purchases...just perfect for a light lunch. As it turned out, Gail didn't get into her room until 13:00 and badly needed to rest and get freshened up. So we agreed to meet her at the hotel at around 16:00. This worked for us too. We explored our neighborhood on Rue de Grenelle a little, finding a wonderful cappuccino machine store with just the right model to replace ours which is now about 25 years old, but still kicking. It sells for about 1420 euros without tax, about $1,820! Maybe we'll keep our current one!

Gail's hotel is lovely. We sat and schmoozed and strategized for a little while, and then found a nearby cafe for a quick coffee pick-me-up. We then took Gail over to see the fabulous Hermes store not too far away, in what was once the huge Art Deco swimming pool of the famous Lutezia Hotel. She was blown away!

From there we walked over to our first neighborhood to show her where we had lived in the 6th, and to take her for an aperitif and some fromage to snack on at Le Nemrod, our 'ground zero' cafe. We saw some 'uniforms' and some of our old buddies at Cafe Nemrod who took good care of us, and it was relaxing...just what she needed.

When she got her sea legs on, we were ready to go for dinner. We had made a reservation at Le Cigale, the restaurant specializing in soufflé, that was also nearby and convenient. We all had fillet steak au poivre which was the best, topped off with three mini-soufflés: pamplemouse (grapefruit), caramel with fleur de sel, and almond with raspberry compote sauce. OMG!! Outrageous!! The restaurant was perfect, with lots of beautiful people to watch.
After dining, we put Gail in a taxi and we took the Metro home. It was an early night for us, but that was fine.
Wonderful days lie ahead...
